The Artists

Mikhail Zheleznikov was born in Leningrad in 1972. Made films for ARTE and YLE, Corona Films, and Saint-Petersburg Documentary Film Studio. From 2011 he curates the new experimental short films competition program In Silico, at Message To Man film festival.

Daniel Gallegos is an artist inspired by collaborative creativity and urban environments. He spent his early days as a member of the graffiti art movement in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Since 2007, he began to use ethnography as part of his creative work.  In Almaty,Kazakhstan,  he worked with visual artists to create a multi-media installation about construction-wrought urban transformations that resulted from the global consumer credit bubble.  The following year, he collaborated with local youth in Almaty and Shymkent in a project sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan. In 2009, he participated in the CEC ArtsLink’s Global Art Lab residency to create a café in a bazaar as an interactive art installation in the city of Osh, Kyrgyzstan. His latest project was a site-specific multi-media collaborative art installation between artists and “classical” car mechanics in Oakland, California. Daniel is a co-founder of the Artpologist Collective.
